| So this is the deal.... you read it here first or maybe on facebook or myspace 'cause I'm just going to repost this the same way. This is the official word or press release or whatever you want to refer to it as. Yes... Hot Little Rocket will be releasing a new album this summer/fall. We recorded 12 new songs with 2 of our favourite people, Lorrie Matheson and Dave Alcock. The tentative release date will more than likely be our 11th anniversary in September because we took way too long to finalize the details. And yes, the plan is for the band to split up, sell the house, disrupt the kid's lives and move to opposite sides of the island. In reality it really just frees up some evenings so we can move on with other projects that are in the works. Oh yah, another good reason why we are breaking up is because we have officially run out of things to talk about in the van... So this is going to be the way it rolls out.... Aaron will continue on with "Heat-Ray" who have a new record out this summer, Matt will release his solo venture this summer as "extra happy ghost!!!" I will continue playing with "Key to the City" and yes, we also have a new record coming out this summer.... that's right one band tied to 4 new records and all this summer....FYI, Andrew is also in the process of gathering some crazed individuals to rock some roll (name and lineup not released at press time)... so you really want to know why we are breaking up, because breakups mean much more hard feelings, anger and depression....and anger and depression leads to more creativity, and more creativity leads to more records. So more records will be made by Hot Little Rocket... maybe not in this form but in many many other mutations.... and aren't mutants just way cooler... Wolverine kicked some serious ass! To summarize, we are breaking up and we are also releasing a new record... That's it... I said it. Done. It's out there! We will have a few shows coming up to pay back some favours, and also to have some serious fun. We will be at Sledisland this summer and will also be playing an outdoor show for CJSW's Olympic Plaza Concert Series. The last Hot Little Rocket show ever/ CD release party / Mega Merch sell off will be announced soon. We really love you guys! 0 comments |
| Monday, March 23, 2009 It's Spring 2009... and what does the future hold? |
 I see some melting snow! That's about as much foresight I am able to give you at present. We have finished recording our 4th full length album with Lorrie Matheson and Dave Alcock at Arch Audio studio and Sundae Sound studio. We wrote, re-wrote, demoed, re-wrote, demoed some more and finally were able to get 12 solid songs down onto magnetic tape using various drum kit configurations, amp manipulations and of course some "borrowed" gear. We are still working out the details on how we will be presenting these songs to you. It will be sooner than later, and will probably be a sought out collectors item before it is even released as we will probably be releasing it in limited quantities with our own limited resources. We will be mostly using white glue, scrap cardboard boxes and scotch tape.... DIY!!!! We also have a few upcoming shows to announce. April 3rd @ Broken City with the Ex-Boyfriends (Can you believe we have never shared the stage with these guys....yah... I know!!!) We will also be warming up the crowd for the most Calgarian of all shows April 17th at the Gateway with the Dudes and Chixdiggit. This show should be sponsored by the City of Calgary, Big Rock, Peters Drive In and Spolumbos! We will see you soon! 0 comments |

 Hey there my fine feathered friends. We have been living the good life over the past few months, writing, playing, tanning and actually drinking a lot less than we should have. That all changes now. We will be drinking more in the Fall and tanning less. As you may already know, we have this party coming up on September 13th. We are having a few treats over the evening. There will be a special guest band opening, we will be premiering our new video and just possibly showing our hidden China tour videos. There will also be cake. I like cake. Mark will be back to play a set of our solid gold from yesteryear, and if we are able to swing it will have some special unreleased recordings available (free). I know... all in one night? You better make it down for this special evening, this could be it for a while. It gets cold and I don't like to go outside so much. We also have a few out o' towners coming up before the snow flies (I hope): October 24th (Regina) O'hanlons October 25th (Winnipeg) The Lo Pub Hot Little Rocket would like to thank you for supporting us over the past 10 years. It has been an amazing decade, a lot of cool stuff happened and we met so many amazing people! From out of Andrew's basement apartment in 1998 to our 1st show at the Night Gallery, from the basement of 1409 to Beijing, from Halifax to Victoria and from recording our 1st EP a garage in Kensington to creating a masterpiece at Electric Audio in Chicago, we have had a very good run and have grown a lot.
